50 Cars Crash After Thunderstorm Leaves Slick Roads On I-20 In Texas

An isolated thunderstorm in Arlington, Texas, had a dangerous effect even after it left the area last week. According to the Associated Press, the brief spring storm left areas of Interstate 20 wet, slick, and shimmery – three conditions that police say caused a chain-reaction crash involving at least 50 vehicles.

Those involved in the multiple car accident, which took place on Tuesday in North Texas during the evening commute, say that the wet roads combined with the glare from the setting sun and that it was impossible to see the ever-growing wreck until it was too late to come to a safe stop.

Three people were injured and taken to local hospitals, though Arlington officials report that no one is in life-threatening condition. The westbound lanes of I-20 were closed for a number of hours as disabled vehicles were removed from the scene of the wreck.
