For the second time in less than six months, Texas police reported that a Friendswood nursing home did not report a
nursing home elopement. In late February, Friendswood Police picked up a 52-year-old man with mental disabilities who was wandering the streets. The man, when asked for his address, gave police the located on an abandoned house. Authorities determined that the man suffered from early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease and lived at a nursing home located on South Friendswood Drive in Friendswood, Texas. The TX nursing home had neglected to call police regarding their
missing patient. A similar incident occurred in September of 2009, when a woman with dementia wandered from the same nursing home. She was also not reported missing after the nursing home discovered she was missing from the grounds.
Nursing home elopement can be a serious sign of an understaffed nursing home and
Texas nursing home neglect.
