Birth Injury lawyer | Legal Remedies for Birth Injuries

Birth injuries can result in conditions that are lifelong and devastating. They include cerebral palsy, a disorder caused by an interruption in the infant’s air supply. This injury causes significant difficulty with movement, as the child’s muscle tone is either too rigid or too lose due to the disorder. Cerebral palsy, fortunately, is not degenerative, though treatments may become more intensive over the course of the affected individual’s life. Most people who suffer from CP do have a need for assistance with everyday tasks, and this means that their medical expenses can be very high.

For parents who have been affected by this disorder, the demands can be extreme. This baby injury is among the most difficult to detect early on. When infants perform even the most basic feats of strength and coordination, it’s considered a milestone by doctors and parents alike. Normally, infants with CP reach these milestones very slowly, or don’t reach them at all, and these are the first signs that there may be a problem. In some cases, the infant’s body may be obviously stiff or loose and this may alert the parents to the fact that there’s a problem with their child.

While baby brain damage can be caused in many different ways, CP can be caused by medical negligence, as well as by natural causes. In cases where medical negligence is at issue, the doctors either fail to notice that the child is receiving no air or they fail to remedy the situation quickly. There are other ways that these injuries can occur but, if it happens to be the fault of the doctors who delivered the baby, the parents may have an option to file a lawsuit and to pursue compensation to help them deal with the resulting expenses.

A cerebral palsy attorney will have experience dealing with these cases. This, of course, means that they will also have experience dealing with medical issues in general and that they can be a tremendous resource for those who suspect that medical negligence may be at issue, but who have no way of establishing that themselves. Some of these attorneys offer free consultations, which allows you to see if there is legitimate reason for you to pursue a case and if the attorney feels that you may stand a chance at winning either an award from a jury or a settlement.
