Dallas Product Liability Lawyers | Product Liability and Safety

Sometimes, lawsuits provide the best way to ensure that the products available on the market perform as advertised and that they're safe for the people who use them. This area of the law is firmly on the side of consumers and ensures that companies are held liable if they hurt someone. Safety is a major concern with some products. If you take a look at some of the most dangerous items you have around your home, you'll notice that they have safety labels all over them. This is one way that product liability law, and the threat of being sued, keeps companies honest about the risks their products pose to consumers.

Making sure that consumers are safe is something that any company that puts a product out on the market is responsible for. While we do have a free-market system, there is responsibility built in to the legal code. This is why the manufacturer has to warn you if a product, for example, should only be used while you're wearing safety goggles. If they didn't provide this warning and you were injured, they would be liable for the cost of that injury and your pain and suffering.

Product liability law also ensures that advertisements have to accurately describe the capabilities of the product. When a product, for example, is advertised as being safe for a given purpose but this is not the case, the manufacturer could be held liable for any injuries that are caused by people using the product in the way that the advertisement implied was safe. This ensures that the advertising end of the manufacturer's operation is kept honest, as well.

If a product is designed in a way that is inherently flawed, the manufacturer is liable for any damages it causes in the same way they would be if it was manufactured in a way that was dangerous or if it was advertised a way that was untrue. If you believe that you've been injured by a product that was advertised incorrectly or that was manufactured in a way that was inherently dangerous, contact a defective product attorney. They may be able to help you prepare a lawsuit against the manufacturer that could win you financial compensation for your pain and suffering and for any expenses you incurred as a result of being injured. This is the best way to keep manufacturers honest.
