After
two young children have died from choking on toy darts, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall of a dollar store dart set that could prove fatal. The company that makes the dangerous dart sets, Henry Gordy International, Inc., has declined to participate in the
toy recall. The defective products, which were sold in Family Dollar Stores across the country since 2005, include a plastic dart gun, a target, and small rubber and plastic darts. Over 1.8 million dart gun sets are being
recalled. The affected guns have Item #P238 or Item #9328 printed on the dart gun handle. The small darts, which are made of soft plastic and have a suction cup, can be inhaled by children and cut off oxygen to the lungs.
Those who have purchased the
defective dart guns are told to immediately take the toy away from their children and either throw it away or return it to the Family Dollar Store for a refund.
