El Paso Man Drives Off Trans Mountain; Fatigue Blamed
On Sunday, a Texas man somehow survived a 50-foot drop off of a cliff along Trans Mountain – police say that his seatbelt likely kept him from being ejected and saved his life. The TX car accident took place on Sunday evening when witnesses say that a pickup truck driving westbound on Trans Mountain Road swerved and drifted off of the road and down the side of a cliff. El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the scene just before 11 in the evening and were surprised to find the victim, the only occupant, strapped into his vehicle and still responsive. After the El Paso fire department rescued the man, 28-year-old Homar Navarette-Estala, he was treated for minor injuries at a hospital. The truck will be removed later this week.
While the Texas pickup truck accident is still under investigation, authorities believe that driver fatigue was the major factor in the incident.
