Family Sues Longview Apartment Building After Air Gun Head Injury

The family of an injured middle school student are suing the Texas apartment building where their daughter was hurt in an air gun incident. The Longview premises liability lawsuit claims that the owners of the apartment complex knew that teens were shooting air guns on the property and did not stop them before the accident took place.

According to the personal injury lawsuit, Shabreashia Head was hit in the back of the head with an air gun by a teen in their Texas apartment building in June 2009. The girl was rushed to Parkland Hospital in Dallas for treatment for a serious brain injury and spent months in rehabilitation at Baylor Hospital. According to the woman who filed the suit, Shamonica Mack, the girl still suffers from memory problems, cognitive problems, and emotional problems following the head injury.

Mack is seeking damages for severe pain, mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, interest and court costs, saying that the owner of the building should have warned those who were shooting the air guns or contacted police.
