Galveston Felon Files Medical Malpractice Suit Over Broken Femur

A Texas man who is in prison for intoxicated manslaughter has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the hospital that treated him in the wake of the car accident that he caused.

According to the med mal lawsuit, Jim Howard III was being treated for his car accident injuries at Mainland Medical Center when one of the nurses broke his femur during a procedure. He claims that he walked away from the car accident and then was taken to the Texas City hospital, where x-rays were taken. Then, when an ER worker was trying to re-align his hip and leg, he heard a pop that he believes was his femur breaking. X-rays after the even show the broken leg.

The car accident took place in March 2009, when Howard caused a crash while drunk that took the lives of 17-year-olds Samantha Romero and 17-year-old Raquel Martinez and injured two other teens. He is serving a life sentence in Galveston for his crimes.
