Galveston Lawsuit: Rear-End Traffic Accident Caused Miscarriage

A Texas City woman has filed a personal injury lawsuit against a Badcliff man who allegedly caused a rear-end car accident in Texas two years ago. The woman claims that the injuries she sustained in the wreck caused her to miscarriage.

 

According to the Southeast Texas Record, Maria Mendoza was seven weeks pregnant in the fall of 2009 when she and her friend Mariana Cabrera were driving on Palmer Highway. When Mendoza slowed her car because the vehicle in front of her was making a turn, Jason Smith rear-ended their car with his vehicle.

 

Mendoza claims that the accident was a direct cause of her miscarriage - and that the loss was traumatic. The two women are seeking unspecified damages in a Galveston County court regarding the accident, citing that the man failed to slow for traffic, fail to keep a safe distance from her car, and failed to control his speed.
