A 9-year-old girl from San Leon was released from Texas Children’s Hospital after being treated for a mangled ear as well as bites to her face and arms by a neighbor’s dog. She was playing in a yard last week when she was
attacked by a Rhodesian Ridgeback owned by a neighbor.
The dog’s owner turned the animal over to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, who put down the dog after handing it over to local animal control officials.
The girl’s uncle, Mike Wood, had harsh words for the
aggressive dog’s owner, Cheryl Conklin, saying that she needed to take responsibility for their actions. Wood also told the media that the girl was recovering well after doctors had reconstructed her ear and face.
Conklin says that the
dog bolted out of the front door and attacked the child. She pulled the dog off of the girl and called 911.
