Hutto Day Care Closes After Child Abuse Allegations

A childcare center in Hutto, Texas, has been asked to close its doors by state authorities in the wake of daycare abuse allegations that took place last month. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services has revoked the childcare permit from Hippo Academy daycare in Hutto and the childcare service will close its doors indefinitely while investigators determine whether or not child abuse has taken place.

Daycare owner 31-year-old Jeannie Alcalar cried at the news, and will not be able to reapply for a childcare permit for at least five years. Investigators already say that they have found evidence that the daycare should indeed be closed. Allegations include the use of hot sauce for punishment, eating off of the floor, and placing a cloth over an infant’s mouth. Authorities are certain that closing the daycare was the best decision for the children’s health and safety.

Some of the families who had children at the Hutto daycare say they are talking to Texas daycare abuse lawyers about a child abuse lawsuit.
