Jefferson County Doctor In Court After Failing To Diagnose Hydrocephalus

A Texas family is suing their son’s pediatrician after the doctor allegedly failed to diagnose hydrocephalus for several years after the baby’s birth.

The parents, Ty and Courtney Cropper, say that their doctor, Dr. Edward Braye Jr., as well as the physician’s  office,  Regional Pediatrics, were negligent in correctly diagnosing their baby boy, Breylon, a mistake which has serious health consequences for life. More specifically, the med mal case states that the doctor breached the standard of care.

The doctor failed to notice the baby’s abnormal head size and circumference at four different doctors’ visits during the first 12 months of life, delaying vital treatment of the boy’s serious head and brain disease. The result will likely be developmental delays and possible lifetime brain damage. Already, the now-four-year-old is missing developmental milestones, possibly because of the pressure placed on his brain during his first year of life.

The parents are seeking unspecified damages, including interest and court costs in their Texas medical malpractice case.
