A doctor in Jefferson County, Texas, is being sued for
TX medical malpractice after one of his patients claimed that his tendon injury was not properly treated in 2008.
According to the Southeast Texas Record, Dr. Jimmy Bell saw patient John Shellabarger on January 17 at Renaissance Hospital-Groves and then later treated him at his office nearby. Shellabarger underwent surgery for a zone 2 flexor tendon injury and then had a follow-appointment with the doctor. However, Shellabarger now believes that the doctor
did not use the most appropriate techniques during the surgery and did not recommend proper physical therapy after the operation. These mistakes lead to the patient’s disfigurement, inability to become gainfully employed, pain and suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life. In addition, his wife claims that she lost her husband's consortium, enjoyment, society, companionship, and suffered her own mental anguish.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court in Jefferson County, will oversee the
Texas medical malpractice case.
