Rasansky: Thanks for sharing with our readers the story about your case.

Carolyn: Are you kidding? I never waste a chance to talk about what the Rasansky Law Firm has done for me.

Rasansky: Well, thank you. Your mother is the reason that you contacted us. Tell us a little bit about that situation.

Carolyn: Well, my husband was having back issues and my mother was getting older as well. Taking care of both of them was beginning to be just too much for just me. So I contacted a nursing home to take care of my mother.

Rasansky: How did your mother react to being placed in a nursing home?

Carolyn: Mom was a certified LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) for years so she was comfortable in that kind of environment.

Rasansky: What happened at the nursing home that you felt like you needed to involve legal counsel?

Carolyn: I had taken my husband to the hospital for some back treatments and had not been to see my mom in a couple of days because we were out of town. When I did get a chance to visit, I was shocked to find my mom covered in bruises and blood in her hair! Needless to say, I was shocked.

Rasansky: What did you do?

Carolyn: As soon as I started asking questions, the staff immediately wanted to give mother a bath, but I wouldn't have it. In fact, I started asking around and found a witness that saw a nurse push my mom into a wall because she wouldn't take her medicine because she thought it was the wrong pills. Now my mom is a great nurse and she would have known if they were trying to give her the wrong medicine. Either way, that's no excuse for treating someone that way.

Rasansky: We couldn't agree more. Did you take your mom out of the nursing home?

Carolyn: I sure did and sadly she died just a short time after that. I think when you take away an elderly person's dignity they just give up. At first I didn't do anything about the incident, but I just couldn't shake it now matter how hard I tried. Eventually I started thinking about hiring a lawyer, not for the money, but just so I could stop that place from hurting other people.
