After a possible choking hazard was reported, Target stores are recalling their pink giraffe security blankets with the help of the
United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC has recalled 44,000 of the
dangerous and defective blankets, which are 14 inches by 14 inches and feature the head and arms of a giraffe. The blankets were sold nationally at Target stores and have the words “I love you.” Written on the front. "Just One Year a division of Carter's" is written on the blanket’s label. The child’s product is defective because the giraffe’s horns can detach from the blanket and pose a choking hazard to young children. No
child injuries or deaths have been reported.
Those who own the giraffe security blanket should immediately stop use and return the blanket to the manufacturer, Rashti & Rashti, for a full refund. The
defective products have sold for around $9 in Target stores since January 2009.
