Texas Bronco Oilfield Services Worker Severely Injures Hand

The Longview News-Journal reported that a Longview, Texas, oilfield worker was injured on the job at a natural gas well site on Tuesday night.

Sheriff's deputies at the scene of the on-the-job accident said that 50-year-old Jesus Ortez suffered a serious hand injury when pressure shot out of a value on the equipment that men were using. His hand is badly mangled and he remains in serious condition. Another man suffered minor injuries and was treated at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.

Both men were employed by Bronco Oilfield Services, who says that they will release a statement regarding the accident after they have investigated the cause of the hand injury. It is not clear whether the state will run a separate accident investigation. Oilfields in the area have caused three deaths and one other serious injury in the last year.
