Texas City Woman Sues Doctor Over Loss Of Reproductive Ability
A Texas City woman has filed a TX medical malpractice lawsuit against a doctor who she alleges caused her to lose her ability to reproduce and to experience premature menopause.According to the Southeast Texas Record, Sheneice Stewart underwent a series of procedures and surgeries in past years involving doctors Harlan Wichelhaus, Hemamalini Pilla and Michael Magliolo. These medical procedures resulted in the loss of the woman’s right fallopian tube and an ovary as well as the loss of her ability to produce female hormones and her ability to bear children. At the age of 29, Sheneice suffered from premature menopause, which involved hot flashes, insomnia, emotional trauma, and mood swings.
While physicians Hemamalini Pilla and Michael Magliolo have been dismissed from the Galveston County medical malpractice lawsuit, Harlan Wichelhaus remains accused of negligence and malice. Steward believes that the doctor’s diagnosis was incorrect and that his treatments and procedures were wrong and unnecessary.
This Texas medical malpractice case is a good example of how difficult it may be to put a price tag on injury. While it may be easy to determine how much Stewart’s medical bills were, it is much harder to know what it is like to lose the ability to have children.
