Texas Dad Finds Son's Body 13 Hours After Car Accident

A recent car accident in Atascocita, Texas, has illustrated the dangers of rollover accidents and ejections, especially when occupants are not wearing their seatbelts.

According to the Houston Chronicle and the Associated Press Texas, a father recovered the body of his son 160 feet from a car accident site and 13 hours after the crash occurred. Emergency workers who responded to the Texas car wreck found the body of the driver of the car at the scene, but the man’s son had been thrown so far from the car that he wasn’t found until many hours later. 

The car crash took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning, when 23-year-old Eddie McPayne lost control of his vehicle, hit a ditch, hit a concrete barrier, rolled into a parking lot, slammed into two utility poles, and came to rest on a U-Haul trailer. While responsders to the accident looked for other victims, they found none. McPayne was thrown from the car. He was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition, but later died of his injuries. It is unclear if speed or alcohol were factors in the deadly accident.

When the father of the second victim, 23-year-old Bill Gonzales II, examined the scene, he found his son’s body in a thickly wooded area yards from the crash.
