Texas Distributor Sued in Listeria Tainted Cantaloupe Lawsuit
Yet another unsafe food lawsuit has been filed in connection with the recent listeria cantaloupe outbreak in Texas and across the region.
According to a report on Food Safety News, 68-year-old Doyle Underwood ate cantaloupe several different times throughout August and began to feel ill by the first days of September. He was diagnosed with listeria after his condition - which included muscle pain, mental confusion, and fatigue - became more and more serious. He spent a month in the hospital fighting the infection and regaining his health.
Health officials confirmed that his illness was connected to the listeria outbreak that killed over a dozen people and sickened many more.
With the help of a recalled food attorney, Underwood has filed a lawsuit against Jensen Farms, the operation that grew the tainted fruit; and Frontera Produce, the Texas company that distributed the cantaloupes.
Food poisoning can be an extremely harmful and even deadly issue that can lead to large hospital bills, weeks of missed work, and considerable pain and suffering. If you have been affected by the recent listeria bacteria outbreak or another tainted food product, the companies that produced and distributed the food could be responsible for damages. Contact a Texas tainted food attorney today to learn more about your case.
