Texas Doctor Sued Over Botched Spinal Surgery
A Texas man has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against a doctor in Harris County. The medical mistake case alleges that a doctor botched a spinal surgery causing permanent damage.Patient Kerry Jelks states in the medical mistake lawsuit that he injured his neck and back in a fall four years ago. He underwent surgery at Orthopedic Associates in Bellaire, Texas, and was cared for by doctor Navin Subramanian. During the procedure, Subramanian removed one of the disks in Jelks’ neck and replaced it with medal hardware.
Jelks suffered partial paralysis and loss of muscle control after the surgery – two permanent injuries that he says were caused when his surgeon damaged an area surrounding his spinal cord during the medical procedure.
Jelks is suing the doctor and the medical office for actual damages and exemplary damages in addition to court fees. His medical error case will be heard in Harris County court.
