Texas Motorcyclist Dies In Head-On Crash On Country Road
One person is dead after a car and motorcycle collision on a country road in Bosque County Texas. Like many Texas motorcycle accidents, this crash may have been prevented with motorcycle accident education and awareness.According to local news stories, 33-year-old Kelly Smith was driving her pickup truck on Country Road 1304 outside of Lakeside Village on Sunday night when she attempted to pass a slow vehicle ahead of her. When she moved to pass the car, however, she drove head-on into 27-year-old motorcycle rider Purna Gurung of Irving, Texas. Witnesses say that Gurung attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to swerve out of the pickup truck’s path. Smith suffered minor injuries in the crash, while Gurung was pronounced dead at the scene of the motorbike accident. It is not yet known whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
While the cause of the motorcycle accident is still under investigation, it is important for all drivers and motorcycle riders to remember that bikers can be harder to see than full-sized cars, especially at night. Be sure to look closing before passing vehicles of two-lane roads, and never go above the speed limit even when passing cars.
