Texas Woman Sues After Heart Attack From Avandia
Embattled drug manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline is facing yet another defective drug lawsuit in regards to their product Avandia, this time from a Texas woman who says the drug led to her husband’s heart attack.Terry Roberts, a relative, filed a defective drug lawsuit in Panola County this week. Roberts suffered a heart attack after he began taking Avantia, which is prescribed to treat patients suffering from diabetes – but sales have stalled since hundreds of people reported heart attacks in conjunction with taking the drug. Although the label states that one of the side effects of the drug is heart issues, including cardiac arrest, the lawsuit claims that the drug company does not adequately warn consumers of the risks that come with using the medication.
According to the Southeast Texas Record, Roberts is suing for medical injuries, disability, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, increased risk of health problems, loss of past and future income, medical expenses, court costs, and interest.
