Tiny Tink Jewelry Sets Recalled Due To Dangerous Lead Content

Even more defective and dangerous children’s toys are being recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission because of unsafe levels of lead. This week the CPSC and toy company Playmates Toys announced a voluntary recall of Tny Tink and Friends jewelry sets. The sets contain a charm container that was tested as having more lead content than is considered safe by the federal government: 300 parts per million.

Although there have been no reported child injuries in relation to the high-lead toys, the toy company recommends that those who own the toy discard the charm container and contact the company for a replacement. The toys, which were made in China, cost between $6 and $8 and were sold nationwide from November of 2008 to November of 2009.

This recall follows a host of children’s toy lead content recalls in the last year and a half, including a large recall of Thomas & Friends tank engine train sets.
