Children suffering from cerebral palsy already struggle daily with pain, mobility, and other health issues. Unfortunately for one Waco boy with cerebral palsy, his life was made even more difficult when a nurse was found to be
stealing his medication and taking it herself. According to the Department of Public Safety, 49-year-old home health care nurse Julia Annett Carroll was taking drinks for a 12-year-old boy’s Diazepam solution and then replacing the missing liquid with water. The parents, who became suspicious of the nurse, caught the act on videotape. The parents then contacted the Bellmead police. Carroll has been charged with obtaining a controlled substance through fraud and for endangering a child. She has since been released from jail on a $35,000 bond.
The
Texas cerebral palsy patient is bedridden and suffers from several other ailments – his Diazepam prescription helps his painful muscle spasms. When the nurse was stealing medication from the boy, he showed signs of being in pain.
