Wichita Falls Toddler Dies In Driveway Backover Accident

A one-year-old toddler has died in a car accident near Houston at his family’s home. According to the Houston Chronicle, toddler Giovanni Fidel Perez died of car accident injuries at United Medical Center on Tuesday, August 10, shortly after being struck.

The family says that they lost track of the boy on Tuesday afternoon and was in the driveway when a family friend pulled their SUV out of the driveway of the North Texas home. Perez was run over by the tire’s front right wheel. Unfortunately, backover toddler accidents are common in driveways and residential areas, especially when SUVs are involved. In many cases, drivers cannot see if a small toddler is in proximity to their car when they go into reverse.

The investigation into the backover accident continues, but Texas Police say that they do not believe that charges will be filed.
