Nursing Home Over-Medication And Neglect, Woman Sues

More allegations are surfacing regarding nursing home neglect and the troubled Texas-based nursing home company Cathedral Rock.

Nursing home abuse victim Barbara Gibson and her family alleges that she was over-medicated during her yearlong stay at one of Cathedral Rock’s nursing homes, Blanchette Place. The 73-year-old woman says that she was heavily medicated while at the adult care facility during her time there in 2006. Although Gibson could walk and talk upon entry into the nursing home, a few months later she was semi-conscious in a wheelchair, a ghost of her old self. She fell and broke her leg at one point during her stay. In another incident, she was wrongfully given a high dose of insulin that sent her into a coma. Gibson also said that she slept on the floor for much of her time at the home. Family members say it took her four months to fully recover from her time at the nursing home.

In the wake of her nursing home abuse, Gibson is now suing the adult care facility for $25,000.
