Wrecks on the Dallas North Tollway over the last year have revealed how important it is to have legal representation.

It happens that some roads in any given city tend to be more dangerous than others. This is only one of the pieces of local information that an attorney from Dallas itself will have that an attorney who does not live within the city will not have to work with.

Local knowledge of the roads.

The different ways that having knowledge of the city can help an attorney to argue your claim are many. For instance, an attorney will know which roads tend to have the most drunk drivers on weekend nights and, if somebody was negligent and driving drunk and hit you, the fact that it was on one of those roads will be something that will help your attorney investigate the matter.

The attorney, of course, will also be up-to-date on local news and will be able to put facts together in a way that may reveal what actually caused your accident. For instance, if a roadway was being worked on and your accident occurred because there was improper signage or no signage at all, the attorney will likely know about the roadway project and this can save time when they’re investigating your claim.

Should you sue over a car accident?

You’ll need to speak with a Dallas car wreck lawyer if you’re not sure whether or not you should file a lawsuit. The most important thing to remember about this is that you should do it as soon as possible. You don’t have to commit to filing a lawsuit as soon as possible but, because there are limitations on how long you have to act on these claims, you’ll want to make certain that you find out how long you have remaining and only an attorney can tell you that.

Two of the accidents on the Dallas North Tollway this year involve very different circumstances that both tend to lead to lawsuits. One involved a municipal vehicle crashing into cars on an exit ramp. The other involved two drunken drivers slamming into each other because one was going the wrong way. These are only two car accidents. Yours is probably different and needs to be assessed by a qualified attorney. Remember that, simply because your vehicle crash doesn’t resemble others you may have read about doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t pursue filing a lawsuit.
