3 Signs of Daycare Child Abuse
For many reasons, daycare child abuse can be hard to detect. Unfortunately, one of the most significant reasons is that the child is often too ashamed to speak up about what is going on. If you are dealing with a true predator, remember that you're dealing with someone who is likely very good at making sure that they do not get caught. However, there are some warning signs you can look for that indicate something is wrong at a daycare facility.
1: Shame, Anger, Humiliation
Your child may have some psychological problems that seem very odd for someone their age. It is not normal for a child to feel significant, lasting feelings of shame; their brains just don't work that way yet. This sometimes happens, however, when they are reacting to an ongoing bad situation. Make sure that any truly negative emotions coming from your child can be traced back to a source. If you cannot think of any stressors in your child's life, it likely means that something is happening to your child that you are unaware of.2: Injuries that Seem Odd
Children injure themselves all the time; it is part of growing up. They shouldn't, however, be coming home from daycare with a lot of injuries. If you see bruising that seems a bit excessive, it's a warning sign. A child may hurt themselves accidentally now and then, but regular incidents could indicate that they are either being struck or not supervised properly when playing.
3: Lashing Out
Just like adults, children are fully capable hiding anger and then lashing out for seemingly minor reasons. This is a serious sign of abuse. Temper tantrums are normal, but at their worst they are usually distracting and sometimes just silly. However, when they become genuine episodes of wrath, the child may be enduring a great deal of hurt and shame.
If a daycare facility failed to step up and make sure that abuse was stopped, they may be guilty of daycare negligence. If you fear your child is suffering for daycare abuse or negligence, this is something you should definitely speak to an attorney about. The compensation you may receive can help pay for any needed medical or psychological help for the child, as well as provide compensation for the pain and suffering of your family as a result of that negligence.
