Missed Diagnosis in Minnesota May End in Death

In some cases, medical malpractice is defined by the missing of a diagnosis that should have been caught. Sometimes, patients end up suing doctors because the doctor missed a diagnosis and, because of having done so, reduced the patient's overall chances of survival. A recent case in Minnesota, as reported by the StarTribune.com, relates the tale of a girl with a rare cancer of the muscles that was not diagnosed and how her parents are fighting in court to sue for medical malpractice.

Reducing Chances

There are cases where malpractice attorneys argue malpractice claims based on the fact that the medical malpractice involved reduced their client's chances of survival. In the worst-case scenarios, the lawyers end up arguing that the missed diagnosis actually ended up causing the client's death. No matter how the missed diagnosis affects the client's life, there is oftentimes an opportunity to sue provided that the malpractice did have some measurable and negative effect on the client's life or on the lives of the client's family.
