The TIME to ACT is NOW.

The technology of today's toys has drastically improved in the 21st century, but with greater ambitious comes greater risk. Say what you will about toys from the old days, they were certainly far less dangerous! It's easy to dismiss the danger of consumer products, passing on the blame to the individual consumer who should know better than to eat something just because it's shiny and yellow. The problem is, kids do not know any better. Children cannot be trusted to fully comprehend a product's use. Hence, we compiled a top 5 dangerous toys list (some of which, thankfully, have already been taken off the
market).
# 5 Little Tikes Toy Workshops and Trucks
This seemingly harmless role playing toy resulted in a young child almost choking to death on a plastic "nail" that got lodged into his throat. Nails are too small at 3 and ¼ inches long, and the entire set has already been recalled by the company. Similar product liability cases have struck Playskool for their "toy tool benches."
Revolution Health Services brought a lot of dangerous toys to our attention, but none more notable than Aqua Dots, which were seemingly harmless small beads that could be used to make various multi-dimensional designs. The idea itself was brilliant and even won a few awards for the best toy of 2008. However, it was later discovered that the manufacturer used a cheap chemical inside the beads that was a pharmacologically active sedative pro-drug. The result of eating these beads left some children comatose for days. Multi-nation recalls followed and the company opened themselves to product liability.
# 3 Sportsman Shotgun
Collection DX gave us some shivers with their dangerous toys list for 2008 but anytime a shotgun is discovered in the list it grabs attention. This BB-gun knock off (made to use air-soft pellets instead of metal BBs) is not recommend for children under the age of three. However, it's hard to imagine any adolescent being ready to handle a device that according to its own warning label can kill small animals and a maim person's eye or face. This is certainly an example of flawed marketing!
The Keenans Kids Foundation did a lot of research and came up with a 10 dangerous toys list of its own. Coming in at #1 was a radio controlled helicopter. Running upwards of $50, it's unlikely that any parent would let a toddler chew on any of this toy's high-tech pieces. However, the risk was increased all the more because of the toy's use of lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries. It is capable of bursting into flames or exploding when it is overheated or improperly charged.
# 1 MEGA Brands Magtastik and Magnetix Jr. Magnetic Toys
These toys look cute, like something out of a Pixar movie, and would seemingly pose no threat. Until you realize that there are magnets in the small flexible parts of these animals and vehicles and they can be detached. Young children are swallowing these magnets, and inside the body, the magnets are attracting one another leading to intestinal perforations and blockages. This is currently at the top of the "most wanted list" by the Consumer Product Safety Commissioner.
If your child has been seriously injured from a toy product then don't assume it's their fault. This may be an unsafe product on the market. You owe it your child and to millions of other children who could also be hurt to come forward. Contact the Rasansky Law Firm at 1-877-405-4313 for a free consultation about product liability.
