Subsidized Texas Daycares May Be More Dangerous For Dallas Kids
Each year, Texas receives millions of federal tax dollars to subsidize daycare facilities across the state and provide quality childcare for working parents who can’t otherwise afford to work and raise children. However, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) often finds themselves funding childcare centers that violate regulations, abuse their children, and endanger lives. Here are just a few horrors that have taken place at subsidized daycare centers across Texas:
• In Dallas in 2008, a daycare worker left a two-year-old child in a hot van for seven hours, killing the child.
• In San Antonio in 2009, a daycare provider was charged with allowing her 14-year-old son to sexually abuse the children under her care.
• In Houston, a daycare provider kidnapped a child from her center after her own child was taken into Texas Child Protective Services.
• In Austin, a daycare provider fractured the skull of a five-year-old child and then tried to cover up her physical abuse.
• In Euless, a daycare worker allowed older children to engage in sexual activity with one another.
• In Houston, a daycare provider allegedly let one toddler fall in a bath tub and punched a disabled seven-year-old in the face, dislodging a tooth.
• In Pasadena, a childcare worker burned a baby with scalding milk, causing extensive permanent scarring to the child.
• In Port Arthur, a daycare provider allowed a convicted rapist to live with her in a daycare facility – and then lied to authorities when they began asking questions.
Many are unsure of what to do about the poor conditions in many subsidized Texas daycare facilities, but one thing is clear: if your child has been injured, neglected, or abused in a TX daycare, you should contact a Texas daycare abuse attorney immediately.
