Is Verbal Abuse at Preschool as Bad as Physical Abuse?

There are cases where children in preschool settings are used by a teacher primarily in a verbal fashion. Even though the abuse may not be physical, they can still do a great deal of damage to the child. Verbal abuse can cause a great deal of stress for the child and, in addition to stress, you can do real psychological damage. Allowing verbal preschool abuse to go on can easily be construed as a form of negligence if it can be demonstrated that the child was harmed.

Preschool AbuseWhy It's Negligent

When you take your child to preschool, the preschool has certain obligations to you. One of the things you have the reasonable right to expect from the preschool is that they will look after your child and make certain that they are safe. Making sure that the children are safe includes making certain that they are not subjected to forms of abuse, verbal or otherwise.

Verbal abusers sometimes manage to get away with treating children quite horribly by only being abusive when there's no one else around to supervise them. Ideally, abuse at preschool would be extremely difficult to perpetrate because of almost constant supervision of staff members by other staff members. In preschool settings where the teachers are not supervised properly, however, it may be the case that verbal abusers are able to get away with taking out their rage on children for quite a while before anybody puts a stop to it.

This can bring the child to genuine harm. Not even an adult can take being verbally abused for an extended period of time. Counselors for children, psychologists and others can be called upon to demonstrate how a child has been made to suffer by an adult who doesn't understand that there are boundaries concerning what they may say to a child or by an adult who is simply abusive and doesn't deserve to be anywhere around children.

When your child has been harmed by somebody else's negligence, contacting a lawyer is one of the ways that you can remedy the situation. It will take a criminal case to make certain that anybody guilty of a crime is punished, but a civil lawsuit can get you compensation that can help you and your family pay for the costs of whatever your child needs to help them recover from being abused.
