Dallas Family Files Lawsuit After Daughter Struck By Monster Truck
Posted on Apr 25, 2011
The family of a young woman who was run over by a monster truck in a strip club parking lot in Dallas has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the man who was driving the vehicle as well as the gentleman’s club where the fatal pedestrian accident took place.
According to Dallas news sources, 23-year-old Kasey McKenzie was a customer at the strip club and was walking through the parking lot when she walked in front of 27-year-old Eric Crutchfield’s Ford F250 on oversized wheels. Crutchfield, who had been driving at the strip club, the Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen's Club, did not realize that he had struck anyone and had to be told by others in the parking lot.
A breathalyzer test showed that Crutchfield had a blood alcohol level that was two times the legal limit and he was arrested in the parking lot for intoxicated manslaughter. While police say that the man wasn’t speeding through the parking lot, he was under the influence of alcohol and did not seem to know that he struck a person when rolling out of his parking space.
The wrongful death lawsuit, which was filed in Dallas County court this week, alleges that the Spearmint Rhino establishment served Crutchfield well after he was intoxicated – in fact, until the strip club closed for the evening. It also alleges that Crutchfield’s drinking and driving was a direct cause of McKenzie’s death.
