Daycare Worker Fired After Video Showing Alleged Abuse Released
Posted on Jun 30, 2011
A Mineola daycare center is under investigation by authorities and two daycare workers have been fired in connection with the incident after a one-minute cell phone video surfaced showing what looks like physical and verbal child abuse.
According to local news sources, East Texas daycare center Guiding Light Child Care was the scene of alleged daycare abuse. A co-worker recorded one of the daycare’s staff members, Jennifer Stone, physically abusing and shouting at 5-year-old Aiden Robinson.
Wood County's Child Advocacy Center is looking into the incident along with Aiden and his mother Rebecca, who says she would like to prevent Stone from ever working with children again. Stone apparently passed a background check when she was hired for the job.
The daycare posted a sign saying that they had fired a worker and that they were completely cooperating with the child abuse police investigation. The daycare worker who shot the video has also been fired, allegedly for releasing the video and speaking about the child abuse on her Facebook page.
According to the Mineola Police Department, Stone has not yet been charged with a crime in relation to the apparent daycare abuse video. She is not speaking to the media regarding the incident.
