Fiery Head-On Crash In Midland Kills Grandmother, 3 Grandchildren

Five people were killed in a fiery truck accident this week in Midland, Texas. A grandmother and three of her grandchildren as well as the truck driver were among the traffic accident victims.
The tragic dump truck accident occurred on Sunday afternoon, February 6, when a Volkswagen Beetle was traveling on Highway 1788 just outside of Midland drifted into ongoing traffic and was struck head-on by a dump truck carrying a trailer. The two vehicles erupted into flames after an initial explosion.
Grandmother Deborah Beck of Andrews, Texas, and her three grandchildren, 8-year-old Tiffany Klein, 3-year-old Jeremyah Rodriguez and 2-year-old Sebastian Savage, were all killed in the truck accident and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the dump truck, 56-year-old Edwin Timmer, was also killed in the Texas truck crash. His wife said that she was speaking to her husband on the phone after the truck accident, but that he was unable to escape the vehicle before the explosion.
Beck’s son and daughter-in-law where in a vehicle just ahead of the Beetle before the accident and were on the crash scene just after it happened.
An investigation into the deadly truck accident has still left West Texas police without answers. The family of Beck said that she was healthy and that she was not fatigued – and that they are unsure what would make her drift out of her lane. The investigation has found that the dump truck driver did brake before the accident but was unable to avoid the crash. Alcohol was not a factor in the tragedy.
