Fort Worth Daycare Sex Abuse Case Ends with Life Sentence

Posted on Feb 27, 2012

A Tarrant County jury deliberated for just over a minute before deciding upon a life sentence in prison for a daycare worker accused of molesting multiple boys under his care.

According to Texas new reports, 27-year-old Paul Joseph Lair, Jr. was found guilty of one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child under six years old and one count of indecency with a child.

The man had been and employee of the Children's Courtyard on Western Center Boulevard in north Fort Worth as well as the Apex Academy in North Richland Hills before he was accused of Texas daycare abuse by several families.

The Fort Worth daycare abuse trial involved a five-year-old boy that Lair babysat at his home in Keller, Texas. During the trial, the jury heard testimony that the young boy was forced to engage in sex acts at night at the man’s home. They also heard testimony from others who had seen Lair fondling other children while working at the daycare center.

The prosecuting attorney in the case wrote in a statement that Lair was a classic predator who lured children into his house, befriended them, and then took advantage of them. He added that Lair’s goal was to open a daycare center of his own – likely so that he could further molest children.
