Tarrant County was the scene of a number of traffic accidents, including two deadly truck accidents, after inclement weather left Dallas area roads slick and icy.
The first deadly Texas truck accident took place on the raised ramp between I-30E and southbound 280 Loop. When a tow truck stopped to help two motorists who had been involved in a weather-related accident, a third car lost control on the ramp and slammed into the tow truck. When the driver of the last car, emerged to assess property damage, a fourth car crashed into the man, 22-year-old Hung Nguyen of Arlington, sending him off of the ramp and onto the highway below. The accident took place at around 2 in the morning on Sunday.
In the second truck accident during icy conditions occurred in Arlington, TX, when icy roads on Interstate 30 lead to an 8-car pile-up caused initially by an 18-wheeler. During the truck accident, which took place at around 6 pm on Sunday near the Fielder Road exit, the big rig fell onto its side onto a pickup truck, killing the driver. The driver of the pickup has yet to be identified by authorities.
These two fatal TX truck accidents were two of many less serious accidents occurring in the Arlington, Fort Worth, and Dallas area overnight as a late spring storm brought snow and ice to the region – as much as one inch of accumulation in some areas. Inexperienced drivers struggled with driving in the snow while others did not realize how slick even the largest area roads had become.
