A Texas mother and daughter were killed in a forceful read-end accident on I-35 east in Lewisville on Sunday – the driver of the car that hit them has a past wrought with drunk driving charges and now faces two counts of murder.
Police say that 33-year-old Kandace Hull and her 13-year-old daughter Autumn Hull were driving eastbound on Interstate 35 on Sunday as a drunk driver recklessly sped and wove his car in and out of multiple lanes. Kandace Hull, who was driving the vehicle, died at the scene of the TX car accident while her daughter died at the hospital later in the day. The other occupants of the car, Hull’s husband, 16-year-old daughter, and 12-year-old son, suffered minor injuries in the car crash and were taken to several hospital in the Dallas area. While some injuries are serious, none are thought to be life-threatening. The family was from Argyle, Texas.
The TX car crash was caused by 30-year-old John Patrick Barton, of Lousiville, Texas, is a man with two previous DUI convictions in Tarrant County and Denton County. While Barton was charged with intoxicated manslaughter at the scene of the crime, Texas police made the charge more severe after his history of drinking and driving was uncovered. Police also said that the crash was tragic, both because of the deaths and injuries involved and because of the deadly factors of alcohol and speed that contributed to the Lewisville car crash.
Barton is being held at the Louisville jail.
