Marshall Ambulance Wreck Results in Patient Lawsuit Against Cot Make

Posted on Oct 20, 2011

A man is suing the maker of ambulance cots after he was seriously injured in an ambulance accident in Marshall, Texas.

According to the Texas product liability lawsuit filed in Marshall, Ricky Wayne Fagg suffered from a heart-related health condition on April 9 and called for emergency assistance. Fagg was seriously injured in the ambulance on the way to the hospital when the emergency vehicle was struck by a car on US 69 in Tyler and rolled over.

At the time of the ambulance accident, Fagg was strapped to a cot which was attached to the floor. When the vehicle rolled over, the cot detached from the floor and caused Fagg serious injuries. In the lawsuit, he states that the Stryker Power-Pro XT model 6500 ambulance cot was defective in its design and that the cot should have had a backup system to keep it in place in the event of an accident.

Fagg is suing for an unspecified amount for medical expenses, lost wages, diminished earning capacity, pain and suffering, disfigurement, mental anguish, and loss of consortium.

It is not clear if the ambulance cot manufacturer has faced defective product lawsuits in the past.
