Model Loses Eye, Hand In Dallas Airplane Propeller Accident
Posted on Dec 30, 2011
Professional model Laura Scruggs is recovering well after she was injured in a serious airplane propeller accident three weeks ago at a Dallas airport.
According to local news sources, the 23-year-old model had just returned from a local trip above Dallas to view the Christmas lights and was walking on the tarmac at Aero County Airport when she accidentally walked into the plane’s spinning propeller.
Scruggs severed her left hand in the accident, which her family believes took place when the fashion blog editor was walking toward the front of the plane in the darkness to thank the pilot, a friend. She also suffered a fractured skull, face lacerations, a broken collarbone, a brain injury, and the loss of her left eye. Her family has been keeping family and fans updated regularly with reports of Scruggs’ small steps toward recovery, which have included smiling, walking, and coming to grips with what has happened to her.
Her family is asking for donations to pay for the multiple surgeries that Scruggs will likely face as her journey continues. She underwent a surgery this week in which doctors removed her eye and its nerve endings.
The Dallas personal injury attorneys at Ransansky Law Office send our thoughts and prayers to Laura and her family during her difficult recovery.
