One Boy Killed, One Injured In Texas Go-Kart And Car Collision
Posted on Mar 24, 2011
In Harrison County, one young boy is dead and the other is in critical condition after a go-kart was accidentally driven into the path of an oncoming car on a rural road.
According to local news reports, the two boys are cousins, 12-year-old Ethan Moore and 7-year-old Gunner Moore. Ethan was on his first day of spring break from school and had just received the new go-kart from his family. The two boys, with Ethan at the wheel, were driving on the family’s driveway and onto Country Road 4102 near Marshall, Texas, when they sped into the path of an oncoming car.
Family members say that the grass was tall in the area between the road and the driveway, and that they understand that it was not the fault of the driver, who probably could not see the approaching boys. The woman struck the go-kart, which was then pulled under the car and eventually thrown into a ditch. The driver has not been ticketed or charged by police, whose initial investigations points to nothing more than a tragic accident.
Ethan was killed instantly in the TX car accident and pronounced dead at the scene. Gunner was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remained entubated and in critical condition. Family gathered at the scene of the accident to support Gunner and remember Ethan, who relatives said loved playing with his cousins, having fun, and playing videogames.
