Plains Tow Truck Driver Charged after Fatal Texas Traffic Accident
Posted on Oct 30, 2011
A tow truck driver from Plains, Texas, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular homicide following a fatal Texas truck accident.
According to the Luzerne County Citizens' Voice, 55-year-old Robert Wickham allegedly drank three large beers either at his home or at his tow truck garage in Wilkes-Barre on March 7 before being called into duty to help a stranded driver outside of a Plains Social Security Office. When he arrived at the scene, Wickham threw her vehicle into reverse, and the car's owner, 55-year-old Denise Polinchak, was struck by an open door. She died of her injuries.
The court documents claim that Wickham threw two unopened beers into a snow bank directly after the accident took place, and he had a blood alcohol level of 0.114 after the collision took place. It also states that Wickham did not ask about the state of Polinchak after the accident.
Wickham told reporters that the police report is not accurate, that he is not an alcoholic, and that he was not drunk on the day of the fatal accident. He also claims he did not know he would be needed to drive the tow truck that day.
The Houston traffic accident attorneys at Ransansky Law Firm send their sincere condolences to the family of Polinchak.
