Runaway Golf Cart in Cowboys Stadium Injures Eight Including Coach
Posted on Dec 29, 2011
One high school football coach suffered a back injury and seven other bystanders were also injured last week when a runaway golf cart at Cowboys Stadium went out of control.
According to Texas news sources, the Texas 5A Division II football state championship had just concluded, and coaches and team members from Spring Dekaney High School and the Cibolo Steele were doing interviews when the Dallas vehicle accident took place.
While authorities are still unsure of exactly how the freak accident took place, some believe that the golf cart went loose after stadium workers accidently threw an orange traffic cone into the cab of the golf car, pushing down the gas pedal.
Spring Dekaney High School head football coach Willie Amendola was giving an interview about his team’s recent victory when the golf cart zoomed into him and tossed him into the passenger seat of the vehicle. While the 56-year-old football coach was in good humor about the crash, he said that his back was injured in the collision. He reported that he saw a paramedic at the scene and scheduled an appointment with his doctor.
Other injuries from the Texas golf cart accident included a broken ankle, a leg laceration, and a thigh injury.
