San Antonio Daycare Center Racks Up 46 Violations In Two Years
Posted on Jan 30, 2011
Have you researched the daycare center where you send your child or children? Do you know if the daycare center you use has had a history of violations or a recent violation? This month, one Texas mother was shocked to learn that child care centers aren’t shut down whenever there is a complaint, especially if authorities believe that the issue doesn’t directly lead to child abuse or child neglect.
In San Antonio, Kelly Crozier picked out Home Away From Home Childcare Center for her new six-month-old baby, but soon became suspicious that the child was not receiving the proper care. Her suspicions doubled when she found that one of the bottles they were giving her son had not been cleaned properly, and again when she finally sat down and researched the daycare. She was horrified to find that the daycare center had racked up over 40 violations in just two years and had been warned by the state on multiple occasions. She pulled her child out of the daycare center immediately.
Among the complaints and violations, Crozier found that at one time a daycare provider forgot about 12 children in an upstairs room. In another violation, a child was yanked roughly by the arm by one of the caregivers. She was amazed to find that though government agencies will send warning letters to the state, parents are never notified.
The owner and operator of Home Away From Home Childcare Center did not wish to comment on the story.
