Serious Dallas Motorcycle Accident On Tollway Caught On Tape
Posted on May 07, 2011
A terrifying motorcycle accident was captured on tape by a surveillance camera on the Dallas Tollway last month. Now the rider is talking about the bike accident – or what he remembers about it.
The Texas motorcycle accident took place on March 17, when 35-year-old veteran Zacharie Perez was riding his bike and just a few minutes from reaching home. He passed a car and then switched back into the far left lane. Seconds later, the car in front of him slowed down. While Perez also slowed down, the car behind him didn’t decelerate and slammed into the back of Perez’s bike. Perez was thrown off of his bike before disappearing under the car. He was then almost hit by another oncoming car.
Perez was rushed to the hospital following the accident. He told reporters that he doesn’t remember much of the crash besides hearing a loud noise and realizing he was on the ground. He then tried to crawl into the far left lane to avoid oncoming traffic. He suffered a burst spleen, internal bleeding, broken ribs, road rash, broken vertebrae, and a hernia. The driver who hit him was driving without a license and without insurance. The driver has not been arrested.
While it is not law for motorcycle riders to wear a helmet in Texas, Perez said that his helmet saved his life.
