Texas Infant Orphaned in Fatal Car Accident

Posted on Feb 24, 2012

An infant is recovering from injuries in a Georgia hospital after a head-on car accident took the lives of both of his parents. The fatal vehicle accident took place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 5, on the Knox Bridge Highway outside of Canton .

According to local news sources, a couple from Sour Lake, Texas, was driving east across the state when the driver of their sedan lost control of the vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic. The car struck a pickup truck traveling west head-on. Both the mother and father of the baby, 48-year-old Rick Dean Headen and 40-year-old Charlotte Ann Sedtal, died at the scene of the accident. The two occupants of the pickup truck suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Wellstar Kennestar Hospital.

The two-month-old baby was traveling in the back of the car. He suffered a broken leg and a head injury in the crash but is expected to recover. A relative of the boy is driving to the hospital from Texas and will have temporary custody of the child, who is in stable condition.

It is not clear what caused the accident, which remains under investigation by authorities.

The Dallas car accident attorneys at the Rasansky Law Firm send their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the family involved in this tragic crash.
