A young couple and their infant son were killed in a rear-end 18-wheeler accident this weekend on Interstate 30 outside of Dallas.
According to local news reports, the a family of four from Rockwall, Texas was driving east on I-30 on Saturday afternoon west Texarkana and north of Cookville when they slammed into the back of a commercial truck that was stopped for unknown reasons in a travel lane. Killed in the accident were 30-year-old Leah Eason, her husband 30-year-old James Eason, and one-year-old Luke Eason. Leah was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while James and Luke were rushed to the Dallas hospital Titus Regional Medical Center were they later died of their injuries.
Four-year-old Jace Eason, the couple’s older son, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and is expected to recover. Texas police believe that the truck was stopped for traffic at the time of the wreck, but the investigation will continue. One report stated that the traffic was created by an earlier car accident about two miles up the road on I-30 involving an SUV rollover.
Leah was an elementary assistant principal in Mesquite while her husband was a fifth-grade teacher in the same town. Students, parents and staff members at the school have created a memorial for the Eason family outside of their school.
