Twin Toddlers Injured While At Unsupervised Texas Daycare
Posted on Oct 31, 2010
A Texas daycare facility is being investigated after a set of twins was seriously injured while under their care. While the daycare says that the children arrived at the daycare with the injuries, the mother – and Texas investigators – believe that the two boys were injured at the daycare and not properly supervised during the abuse.
Missouri City mother Ashley Thomas dropped off her two 7-month-old sons, Kaydin and Kyron Thomas, off at the Vision Kids Learning Academy one morning in September. About an hour later, she received a call that her children had scratches on their face. When she picked up the children, she was horrified to discovered that both of her kids were suffering from scratches, bite marks, and injured eyes. She took them to the hospital, where a doctor confirmed that the children had been abused at daycare.
Child Care Licensing officials have sided with the mother of the boys, who said that her kids were healthy when she dropped them off at the daycare. Officials also say that there were 22 children in the facility that day and only one caregiver. They believe that the children were harmed by another child at the daycare while they were not supervised.
Visions Kids has had other violations in the past, but has always worked with Child Care Licensing to correct their issues. They are now turning to the problem of better supervision. At the same time, Ashley Thomas is considering a Texas daycare neglect lawsuit.
