Two Teens Die on Texas Road Notorious for Fatal Crashes
Posted on Feb 22, 2012
The residents who live along a stretch of curvy road in Magnolia, Texas, are saddened by the death of two teenage girls on Roberts Cemetery Road – but they aren’t surprised by the tragedy. The road has been the site of at least seven fatalities in the last decade, and they believe lawmakers aren’t doing enough to warn drivers of the dangerous conditions.
According to Houston news sources, 19-year-old Anne Donlon of Hockley and 19-year-old Katie Walker of Tomball were negotiating the final curve of Roberts Cemetery Road on Friday, February 10, when the driver lost control of the car, which spun out of its lane and struck an oncoming pickup truck. Both cars left the roadway and rolled down an embankment.
The two young women, both students at Lonestar College, were pronounced dead at the scene of the Texas car accident, while the driver of the pickup truck was taken by ambulance to Tomball Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. He is in stable condition.
Police say that the road was wet at the time of the fatal traffic accident, and those who live along the tree-lined street say that the road’s surface is particularly slick when wet. Although there is a sign warning drivers of the dangers of the road during rainy conditions, residents say the sign is not enough – cars keep crashing and people keep dying.
The Texas personal injury attorneys at Rasansky Law Firm send their heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the two girls who tragically lost their lives.
