A Texas teen was seriously injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. The boy, a 14-year-old, was not wearing a protective helmet at the time of the Texas ATV accident and could have suffered a head injury during the crash.
According to reports, the boy was traveling too fast to negotiate a curb on Wednesday afternoon and veered off of the side of the road. The ATV flipped and rolled into a barbed wire fence and the boy was thrown from the four-wheeler vehicle. He was rushed to a local hospital after the crash and then transported to a larger hospital by helicopter for further treatment.
ATV accidents are all too common in Texas, especially among teens and young men. The best way to prevent ATV accidents and ATV injuries is to wear protective gear, to not drive recklessly, and to never drink and drive. According to data compiled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, ATV accidents and ATV fatalities have increased significantly in recent years – and a number of ATV lawsuits claim that the vehicles pose dangerous rollover risks. Other lawsuits argue that the powerful off-road vehicles do not come with appropriate instruction manuals or any instructions about how to ride the vehicle safely.
ATV accidents can result in head injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neck injuries, and back injuries. If you have been injured in a Texas ATV accident, talk with an experienced Dallas ATV accident lawyer today.

hospitalsignThe rate of injuries caused by recreational riding All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) is on the rise. Despite the efforts of government officials to take proper safety precautions and regulatory procedures to limit these accidents, the rise in injuries and deaths caused by these vehicles are continuously growing.
14-year-old boy, Jonothan Bell of Decatur, is the latest victim of such a horrifying accident. A fun day in the sun joyriding on a late Sunday afternoon turned deadly when Jonathan's all-terrain vehicle struck a tree at the Rocky Ridge Ranch ATV Park, claiming his young life. Medical examiners concluded that the boy died at the scene.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) statistics, the number of injuries and deaths due to ATV accidents has more than doubled in the last 10 years. Studies have found that among all reported injuries, the most common injuries sustained by victims are brain injuries, skull fractures, broken bones, and hemorrhages.
“Parents need to understand that ATVs are not toys. We tend to think short-term and believe that we’re giving children a toy or some kind of entertainment with an ATV. But, remember, a trip to the ER is in no way recreational,” said Dr. Chetan Shah, lead author of the study.
According to Onlinelawyersource.com, Dr. Shah’s study found that during a period of 10 years, the doctors treated 455 children between the ages of 6 months and 19 years old—318 boys and 137 girls, with an average age of about 11. The injuries included:

Additionally, 159 children suffered fractures to their extremities, most frequently a leg bone.
Websites have been created dedicated to educate the public about the dangers of ATVs, and how to reduce injuries and deaths among children driving them.
